The Angell Animal Medical Center (AAMC) in historic Boston, MA is seeking applicants for a board certified avian exotics specialist. Angell has served the greater Boston and scenic New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center for over a century.

Angell is a premier veterinary institution staffed by 55 senior veterinarians, 20 interns, and 15 residents. Angell offers specialty services in anesthesiology, avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, and surgery. AAMC is a rich educational environment offering weekly on-site continuing education seminars and regular multi-disciplinary specialty rounds.
Our doctors practice in an ~ 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital containing a critical care unit with mechanical ventilation capabilities, blood bank, multiple specialty rooms, 6 surgical suites, full service clinical laboratory, microbiology service, necropsy suite, histopathology laboratory for on-site biopsy evaluation, and a linear accelerator that can do stereotactic radiosurgery. We are currently building a new, 10,000 square foot CCU and inpatients wards which is expected to be completed in 2022.
Our current avian exotics staff is comprised of 2 avian exotic specialists, an avian exotic intern and at our satellite hospital there is 1 avian exotic specialist and 1 avian exotics intern. We have 5 techs, all with multiple years of experience. Three are CVT certified and one has a VTS certification in this subspecialty.

We are seeking a board certified avian exotic specialist. The qualified individual will have responsibilities including: daytime management exotic cases, appointments, consulting on cases through the emergency department, mentoring of residents, interns and externs in both cage side rounds as well as formal didactic presentations. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching is a must. Desire to be on the clinical floor is a must.


Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for multi-tasking and working successfully in a team environment. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to the veterinary and technical staff as well as clients and referring veterinarians.
