Preference will be given to exotics-boarded or internship and/or residency-trained applicants in the field of exotic medicine. What our hospital Offers
We are a busy specialty and emergency hospital with multiple collaborative specialty services including imaging, cardiology, internal medicine, surgery, critical care, oncology (radiation oncology and medical oncology), dermatology and a strong anesthesia department. We are looking to expend our already existing services for exotic animals. Our trauma center accreditation leads to a high emergency case load of exotic patients, including avians, reptiles and rodents. Our hospital is equipped with a CT-scan, rigid and flexible endoscopic equipment, surgical suites, in-house laboratory, digital radiographs, ultrasound and oxygen cages.
The candidate would be leading the creation and development of their ideal exotic department, supported by the emergency doctors and the different specialty services as needed. We have already performed advanced surgery on exotics including penile resection and anastomosis on a degu (pending publication), splenectomies on ferrets, foreign bodies on rabbits and endoscopy for foreign body removal on reptiles. Our specialists and ER doctors are excited to expend their skills as necessary while improving our care for exotic patients.
